1. Acceptance of Terms
By installing, accessing, or using the Smart Page Annotator browser extension ("Extension") or any associated web services ("Services"), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree, you must not use the Extension or Services.
2. Service Description
Smart Page Annotator is a Chrome extension that allows users to highlight text, draw shapes, add sticky notes, record screens, collaborate in real-time, and export annotated pages. The Extension stores annotation data locally in the browser by default, with optional cloud features available through registered accounts.
3. Account Types
- Guest: Temporary access lasting one hour with limited feature usage. No account registration required.
- Trial: Full feature access for 7 days after creating a free account.
- Standard (Free): Ongoing free access with reduced feature limits after the trial period expires.
- Pro (Paid): Full feature access with elevated usage limits, available through a paid subscription.
4. Subscriptions and Billing
Pro subscriptions are billed through Paddle, our Merchant of Record. Paddle handles all payment processing, invoicing, sales tax, and VAT on our behalf.
- Subscriptions are available on a monthly or annual billing cycle.
- Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before the renewal date.
- Prices are displayed in USD. Local currency equivalents and applicable taxes are shown at checkout by Paddle.
- You may cancel your subscription at any time. Access to Pro features continues until the end of the current billing period.
By subscribing, you also agree to Paddle's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
5. Refunds
Because we provide a 7-day free trial of all Pro features for new accounts prior to payment, we offer a 24-hour conditional refund window for new paid subscriptions. Refunds must be requested within 24 hours of payment and are granted only for valid reasons subject to our review. Approved refunds are processed within 14 days. 6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Extension to violate any applicable laws or regulations.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the Extension beyond what is permitted by law.
- Abuse share links, recording, or projection features (e.g., spam, harassment, or distributing harmful content).
- Circumvent usage limits, feature gating, or authentication mechanisms.
- Use automated tools to create accounts, generate excessive API traffic, or scrape service data.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
7. Intellectual Property
The Extension, its source code, design, documentation, and branding are the intellectual property of the Smart Page Annotator team. Your annotations, notes, recordings, and other user-generated content remain yours. We claim no ownership over content you create using the Extension.
8. Data and Privacy
Your use of the Extension is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Annotations are stored locally by default. Cloud features (recordings, shared links, projections, workspace sync) transmit data to our servers only when you explicitly use those features.
9. Service Availability
We aim to keep the Extension and Services available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Cloud features depend on server infrastructure that may experience downtime for maintenance or unexpected issues. Local annotation features remain functional regardless of server availability.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Smart Page Annotator and its team shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Extension or Services. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for your subscription in the 12 months preceding the claim.
11. Modifications to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the Extension or on this page. Continued use of the Extension after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
