24-Hour Conditional Refund Policy
Since every new account receives a free 7-day trial with full access to Pro features prior to upgrading, we encourage you to fully experience Smart Page Annotator before making a purchase.
When you choose to upgrade to a paid Pro subscription, you have a 24-hour window from the time of your initial payment to request a refund. Refunds are not guaranteed and are only granted for valid reasons (e.g., severe technical issues preventing usage, or accidental duplicate charges).
If your refund request is deemed eligible and approved, the refund will be processed and returned to your original payment method within 14 days. This applies to first-time subscribers only.
How to Request a Refund
- Email smartannotator@gmail.com with the subject line "Refund Request".
- Include the email address associated with your Smart Page Annotator account, and provide a clear, valid reason for your refund request.
- We will review your request and, if eligible, process your refund within 14 days.
Refunds are processed through Paddle, our payment provider. The refund will be returned to the original payment method used at checkout.
What Happens After a Refund
- Your account will be downgraded from Pro to the Standard (free) plan immediately upon refund approval.
- Pro-only features (unlimited sharing, extended recording, projection, and AI insights) will revert to Standard limits.
- Your local annotations, highlights, and notes are not affected by a plan change. They remain in your browser.
- Cloud-saved workspaces and recordings created during the Pro period will remain accessible within their standard retention windows.
Cancellations vs. Refunds
Cancellation and refund are different:
- Cancel: Stops future billing. You keep Pro access until the end of your current billing period.
- Refund: Returns your most recent payment and immediately reverts your plan to Standard.
You can cancel your subscription anytime from the Paddle customer portal link in your subscription confirmation email, or by contacting us. Cancellations do not require a refund request.
Non-Refundable Scenarios
- Refund requests made after the 24-hour window from the initial purchase time.
- Refund requests without a valid, verifiable reason since a free trial was already provided.
- Renewal charges on existing subscriptions (cancellation stops future charges, but past renewals are not refundable).
- Accounts that have been suspended or terminated for violating our Terms & Conditions.
Exceptional Circumstances
If you experience a technical issue that prevents you from using Pro features, or if there are billing discrepancies, please contact us regardless of whether you are within the refund window. We review each case individually and will work with you to find a fair resolution.
